The Company:

The present, affected body, inhabited by a movement

Lula Amir and Iro Vas came together as dance artists/creators in La Casa Invisible, an independent cultural and social centre in Malaga, Spain in 2015 while we were in the middle of an attempt defining the concept of the narrative of the movement.

Artistic Thoughts:

A body that is exploring and investigating, ends up narrating... In that case there is no need for a lineal dramaturgy in order for the movement to communicate concrete messages. We perceive so we move, we move so we perceive. By letting ourselves being affected automatically we create a sufficient narrative.

A present, affected body, inhabited by a movement, is composing itself by its surroundings, giving us emotional and logical stimulus without any further explanation needed. The body is not dancing emotions. Instead, it inhabits emotional, physical and spacial states.

History

We started off by playing and creating spontaneously, in an easy way with no commitment to come up with a product. So we started developing a common physical language, common criteria and a mutual artistic approach which led us to create our first piece ¨Simio¨.

In 2015 we started giving shape to our work with the decision to form our own company. During La Factica Danza´s first year of exploration and creation we came across and collaborated with many local artists from Malaga in various performing platforms:

  • "El corazón en la mano" - Site specific work, part of the photography exhibition of Sandra Lara "Como ser Frida"

  • "Saudade" - Collective work directed by Pedro Okña VPF

  • "Vitrine" - Site specific, improvisation into performance collective work led by Pedro Okña VPF

As mentioned above, we are residents in La Casa Invisible, a space which provides us rehearsal space, equipment, performing opportunities and performance space. In addition we use that space to teach contemporary dance, Candombe dance, floorwork and body conditioning in intensive workshops and regular classes.
